The VIMY Awards & WineLover's Auction is a signature event reflective of the extraordinary people who populate the Palm Springs area. Because of who we are, we recognized the need to honor a significant contributor to healthcare in our Coachella Valley and beyond.
This first year we have chosen R. Ron Hare, MD as our inaugural recipient. In January of 2019, the CVVIM Board of Directors bestowed the title of Founder & Counselor to Dr. Hare, agreeing unanimously that his insight, wisdom and thoughtful advice will be cherished and sought after as we continue to make his vision of affordable and accessible healthcare in the Coachella Valley a reality. Dr. Hare is credited as the Founder of CVVIM having been the initial driving force to establish the clinic. He has been involved in all aspects of the clinic, served several terms as the Chair, Board of Directors, and continues to promote the clinic in the community. A recipient of numerous awards for his community service, in addition to CVVIM, Dr. Hare is well-known and respected throughout the Coachella Valley, and beyond, for his contributions that improve the community. Today, he continues his commitment to CVVIM, as a nonvoting member of the Board of Directors and its various committees.
The net proceeds from this event benefit Coachella Valley Volunteers in Medicine. We provide a local solution to a national problem. We offer medical and dental services at no cost to adults in the Coachella Valley who have no insurance. As a community safety net, our clinic treats the whole person by addressing chronic diseases (like high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis), acute conditions (colds, flu), preventive medicine, diet, and emotional health. CVVIM is a member of Volunteers in Medicine, a national nonprofit alliance with more than 90 free clinics across the U.S., whose mission is to provide healthcare services in a compassionate, caring way to our neighbors in need.
THE AUCTION
The VIMY Awards & WineLover's Auction is held each year at the renowned Thunderbird Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, a location synonymous with the Desert lifestyle. In addition to the lavish surroundings, guests of this much-anticipated event are treated to delectable appetizers and an exquisite pre-auction meal courtesy of the Thunderbird's inspired culinary team.
Bidding opens on the Silent Auction and guests are free to peruse the exceptional array of auction items: Amazing wines; lavish travel packages; and more. As the Silent Auction comes to a close, wine lovers stroll to the main dining room to enjoy an opulent 3-course dinner and superb entertainment. The VIMY Awards & WineLover's Live Auction takes place after dinner, and this exciting, fun-filled event keeps bidder paddles flying high throughout the evening.
